Expert care for your child’s special needs.
Just as adults have their own special dental needs, so do children. And it’s important that children see the dentist early on – while they’re still toddlers – so they’ll feel good about smile care. According to both the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child’s first dental visit should take place at six months of age or within six months of their first erupted tooth. From birth to age 22, we’re here to take care of all your child’s dental needs:
Prevention is everything The best approach to dental care is to prevent problems from happening. We’ll help protect your child’s smile with protective tooth sealants, flavored fluoride treatments and regular cleanings, including both toothbrush and rubber-cup cleanings. We’ll also teach your child good dental-hygiene habits. We spend lots of time teaching kidz how to brush and floss so their smile stays clean and healthy!
Sippy cup or nursing bottle mouth (early childhood caries) This is caused by frequent and lengthy exposure to liquids containing sugars (milk, breast milk, sports drinks, formula, soda, fruit juice) and can destroy your child’s teeth if not caught in time. It’s best to let us check your baby early, at their first birthday.
Problems with pacifiers or thumb sucking Both pacifiers and thumb-sucking can push your child’s teeth forward and cause an open bite or buckteeth. But if we catch the problem early, chances are we can correct it before it hurts your child’s smile.
Growth & development evaluations A number of conditions could interfere with proper development of your child’s permanent teeth. Extra teeth, missing teeth, a narrow jaw or a misaligned bite such as a crossbite are just a few of the problems that can affect your child’s dental development.
Interceptive orthodontics If your child just needs minor adjustments for a straighter smile, we can usually help. But if more
extensive care is necessary, we’ll refer you to a local orthodontist. They will work closely with us to give your child a smile to be proud of. |
